Capacity Planner for Hyper-V Replica

Day before yesterday Microsoft publicly released the Capacity planner tool to the public. This tool basically helps you to plan the resource planning when it comes to using HYPER-V replica as your DR replication solution. In my opinion this is a very good tool for the customers to get an idea how much bandwidth and storage they will require if they plan to replicate the VM’s to DR site.

In Microsoft own words Capacity Planner is described as follows,

β€œWindows Server 2012 Hyper-V administrators can replicate their virtual machines from a primary server/cluster to a replica server/cluster for business continuity and disaster recovery purposes. The Capacity Planner for Hyper-V Replica provides server, storage and network provisioning guidance which would allow IT administrators to successfully plan for a Hyper-V Replica deployment.”

You can download the tool from here.

The first guide is mostly based on Windows Server 2012 storage and virtualization and the second guide is based around System Center 2012. both document will provide you good idea about Microsoft approach. In future they expect to provide more documents like this and also expecting feedback from you.
